This photograph has all the elements of making a really good abstract. Great lines, light and dark areas. But when a viewer sees it as it is, they see a window with curtains. Keep the essential elements, but do not tell the whole story.
In the lower right hand corner, center a box on the intersection of the light through the curtain and the darker bottom object. Size of the box will only matter to get the correct feel (you will know it when you see it). In that box is everything you need (essential elements of the scene) but not enough for me to jump ahead and know what it is.
Lower left same thing - different picture.
Why will this work? Lines going across, lines going up and down, dark area, and light area (all will balance nicely in a box) , different materials with their own texture. Crop to the box, then blow it up.
